The True Story of A Welsh Airman Shot Down Over Occupied Europe During The Second World War

Eric Grisdale was “One of Many” who flew with RAF Bomber Command during the Second World War.

His story was the stuff of family legend when I was growing up, as my mother was his sister.

In 1985, Uncle Eric wrote a short book to memorialise his experiences. This he had printed at his own expense and distributed to friends and family in his home town of Caernarfon, North Wales.

I recently came across my mother’s treasured copy of this pamphlet and felt that it deserved a wider readership and resolved to make an e-book version available over the internet.

The body of the text has not been changed, but I have divided the work into chapters to aid readability. I have also taken the liberty of adding appropriate introductory quotations for each chapter.

The purpose of this website is simply to allow people to read the book online or to download a copy if they so choose.

This website is also intended to provide a forum for comments. Please contact me via the form below if you wish to make a comment or wish to see an error or omission rectified.

Click here to download a free PDF version of the book*.

[I hope to add an EPUB version shortly — when my HTML editing skills improve!]

I hope you enjoy the book.

*The e-book is supplied free of charge on the understanding that it may be shared and copied in its original form as supplied without restriction. However, it may not be altered or adapted or sold without the permission of the copyright holders.
